James A. Alissi - Partner

Attorney Alissi is a founding member of Fontaine Alissi P.C. He is a 1989 graduate of Connecticut College. Attorney Alissi was on law review and earned his J.D. cum laude in 1994 from the District of Columbia School of Law. He is admitted to the Connecticut Bar and to the Bar of United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association and the Hartford County Bar Association.

Following law school he was hired by the Connecticut Superior Court as a research clerk where his responsibilities included drafting numerous opinions and memoranda for various judges statewide. He has also served as lead trial counsel, admitted pro hac vice, in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts as well as in state court in Massachusetts and New York. He is AV peer review rated by Martindale Hubbell, the highest available rating.

Attorney Alissi concentrates his practice in the area of civil litigation and has significant trial experience, both jury and non-jury. He is regularly involved in various means of alternative dispute resolution including mediation and arbitration. Most of his time is spent defending clients in various types of negligence claims.

Among his clients are all three of Connecticut’s Roman Catholic Diocesan Corporations, the Catholic Cemeteries Association for the Archdiocese of Hartford as well as individual parishes, parochial schools, bishops, priests, cemeteries and other parish officials. Such representation has included cases involving premises liability, defamation, subrogation, sexual abuse, property damage and employment claims.

While in college he was a four-year member of the Connecticut College Varsity Ice Hockey team. He currently coaches youth hockey and has been a member of the West Hartford Youth Hockey Association Board of Directors since 2003.
